Signature size 10–20 KB without blur

Why 10–20 KB is so strict

The band is only 10 KB wide. A phone photo of a signature on lined paper easily lands at 80–200 KB. Aggressive compression then washes the ink into grey smudges. Portals and later attendance sheets need the same running handwriting to remain readable.

Prepare the paper before you scan

• White plain paper — avoid ruled notebooks and coloured pads.
• Black ink pen (most notices). Blue is sometimes allowed; pencil is not.
• Sign in running / cursive handwriting — CAPITAL or block letters are rejected on bank and many SSC forms.
• One clear signature per sheet; leave margin so crop doesn’t cut the ends.

Phone scan vs flatbed

A flatbed scan at ~100–200 DPI is ideal. On a phone: good light, no shadow, camera parallel to the paper, then crop tightly around the ink. Do not photograph from an angle or under yellow room light if you can avoid it.

Steps on Size to KB

1. Open Signature cleaner.
2. Upload the scan / photo.
3. Crop so only the signature remains (no full A4 page).
4. Compress into 10–20 KB. If the notice uses cm (e.g. SSC ~6×2 cm), match that box too.
5. Free Download and check the file size on your phone before uploading.

Prefer exam presets when you know the board: SSC CHSL, SSC JE, UIIC AO, SBI Clerk.

If ink looks broken after compress

• Start again from a sharper original — don’t recompress a blurry download.
• Crop tighter; empty white margins waste the KB budget.
• If the file falls under 10 KB, use Increase size to KB or re-export with slightly higher quality.
• Some Railway CENs want 30–49 KB signatures — that is a different target; use the RRB exam page, not the bank 10–20 KB preset.
